Asteroid 7616 Sadako
Name Meaning: Chaste Child
Origins:
Named after Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese child who died of leukemia after radiation exposure from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. She was inspired to fold origami cranes by the Japanese legend, that one who created a thousand origami cranes would be cured by the gods. Her wish was simply to live but she died before finishing the task. Her friends and family helped finish her dream by folding the rest of the cranes, which were buried with Sadako.

Symbol of peace, reminder of innocent lives lost in war

Asteroid 824 Anastasia

Origins:
Most often linked to the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, the youngest daughter of the last Tsar of Imprial Russia. The imperial family was completely eradicated in July 1918 but there were persistent rumours circulating that she had escaped. Legends of her survival kept surfacing. It was only till 2007 that she was confirmed to have been killed back then in 1918.
Anastasia comes from the Greek word "anastasis", which means resurrection, rebirth.
